Partners

The five founding partners of the REN Alliance are the International Geothermal Association, the International Hydropower Association, the International Solar Energy Society, the World Bioenergy Association, and the World Wind Energy Association.

International Geothermal Association (IGA)

iga-logoThe International Geothermal Association (IGA), founded in 1988, is a scientific, educational and cultural organization established to operate worldwide. It has nearly 5,000 members in over 65 countries. The IGA is a non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organization with consultative status to the UN and special observer status to the Green Climate Fund.

The objectives of the IGA are to encourage research, the development and utilization of geothermal resources worldwide through the publication of scientific and technical information among the geothermal specialists, the business community, governmental representatives, UN organisations, civil society and the general public.

One of IGA’s aims, as defined in the Charter of the Association, is to encourage, facilitate and, when appropriate, promote the coordination of activities related to worldwide research, development and application of geothermal resources. The IGA headquarters is located in Bochum, Germany at the International Geothermal Centre of the Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

International Hydropower Association (IHA)

 

logowithlockThe International Hydropower Association (IHA) is a non-profit organisation, working with a network of members and partners throughout the world.

At the core of IHA’s work is its mission: to advance sustainable hydropower. With a worldwide network of members and partners,IHA builds and shares knowledge on the role that hydropower can play today, responding to renewable energy, climate and water challenges.

IHA’s current programme of work covers topics such as: project finance and investment; climate mitigation, resilience and adaptation; water footprint; benefits of hydropower; clean energy systems and regional interconnection and markets.

International Solar Energy Society (ISES)

ises-logoThe International Solar Energy Society, ISES, is the largest international solar organization, with extensive membership worldwide. ISES has members in more than 110 countries and sections in over 50 countries with thousands of associate members, and almost 100 company and institutional members throughout the world. Young ISES, a network of students and young professional ISES members, is now connecting young solar professionals worldwide.

ISES is the longest standing solar organization in the world, with its roots dating back to 1954. In 1963 ISES became accredited with the United Nations and has been working with UN entities and programs since, taking part in important events like the UNFCCC Climate Change Conferences and the UN Commission on Sustainable Development meetings.

The Society is committed to accelerating the transformation of the global energy system to 100% renewable energy for all, used wisely and efficiently.

World Bioenergy Association (WBA)

wba-logoThe World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is the global organization dedicated to supporting and representing the wide range of actors in the bioenergy sector. Our members include national and regional bioenergy organizations, institutions, companies and individuals.

The purpose of WBA is to promote the increasing utilization of bioenergy globally in an efficient and sustainable way. Since its foundation in May 2008, WBA has been working to address a number of pressing issues including certification, sustainability criteria, standardization, bioenergy promotion, and the debates about bioenergy´s impact on food, land-use and water supply.

World Wind Energy Association (WWEA)

wwea-logoWWEA is an international non-profit association embracing the wind sector worldwide, with more than 600 members in around 100 countries. WWEA works for the promotion and worldwide deployment of wind energy technology.

  • WWEA provides a platform for the communication of all wind energy actors worldwide.
  • WWEA advises and influences national governments and international organisations.
  • WWEA enhances international technology transfer.
